- When Republicans in Minnesota introduced a bill that would ban transgender athletes from playing sports, Walz said that he would veto it.

- While a teacher at Mankato West High School in the 1990s Walz was adviser to the school's first gay-straight alliance.
- Kansas Governor Laura Kelly will chair the Democratic Governors Association to complete the term of Walz.
- Donald Trump specifically listed Walz's support for queer people as a reason to oppose him, despite appointing Walz to the Council of Governors.
- If Pete Buttigieg were heterosexual, he would be Tim Walz.
